Absolutely love the pool shots. I think an even lower angle would have helped this image out, but it's great as is, too. Exceptional detail, though on my monitor it seems that the grey on the back is sharper than the eye area.

Really nice, John. Great head turn and technically excellent. Well done.

Another beauty, John. It does look like some cloning went on with the top half of the photo, but a little more work could hide that. Still, a great pose from a beautiful bird

Thanks all.
Jenaya- The lower point of view has been mentioned many times and perhaps I can explain.
It would be nice I agree but at this site it is virtually impossible. The hide is permanent and has been at this pool on this stream for over 30 years. The hide is actually sunk in the ground and after rain it is often a foot deep in water ! I cant lower the camera position as I can't get down low enough. (Old age !!)
I did once get over it by building a pool raised off the ground but it never looked right. Thanks for your interest
John
PS I,ve just was

Thanks Charlie. I can see it now. .
White bird droppings and pebble highlights I think. Must take more care.

Looks like you caught this one in overcast conditions. I do like the colors although I note that the point of focus appears to be on the back and not the head. Despite that it is a nice head turn and it stands out nicely in the pool. Colors are marvelous.
