Flash Snow 2

Another from last month's flash snow. This one of Bear's Den Creek in Mill Creek MetroParks, only 1/4 mile from home. D600, 24-70 @ 58, .6, f16, iso 200. Disclosure: the mallard in the LLC was in the LRC and facing out of the scene. I moved him so he would be looking into the scene. He also had a female companion, but she was moving and not sharp, so I cloned her out altogether. Suggestions and other comments welcome.

The snow creates a very nice canvas for separating out the tree trunks.  Nice way to make the most of the existing conditions.

Scott,

A lovely, almost delicate, late winter landscape.  I do get the impression this is a scene where the snow just would last past mid day.  The mallard provides a nice touch to the scene.

The only suggestion I have is perhaps some burning, or actually, added contrast painted in to the center of the scene.  Very minor though.

Wonderful image.

Capturing this kind of snow can be just the best - just enough to give texture to trees, branches and ground.  Just a couple of inches can ruin the effect.  Fringe seasons usually allow for these conditions and this looks like an excellent example.  The warm light on the left trees is a very nice touch.  For me, I think it might be stronger to crop off the bottom where the snow didn't collect as I think it detracts compared to the beauty above.  I guess you could move the duck again if that is your thing, but I think it would be very strong even without its presence.  Mosses and subtle snow reflection a bonus. Local treasure!

I really like this, Scott.  It has an almost shimmering quality to it.  Love the duck.  I'm really surprised that there are only three comments.  Very nice.

Beautiful work, Scott. I'm surprised this hasn't received more comments.

Really nice. The overall sense is one of calm and serenity. I really like the perspective you took on this.
