Dave Dillemuth and I went out to Carrizo Plain last Friday. It is a good year out there and we even had some clouds.

Hey Harley,

I guess the blanket of yellow forced your hand on color vs. b&w eh? enlightened

Excellent and beautiful take from this area - sure wish I had driven the few hours to go explore....   For me, the flower covered hills and all those undulating forms and the light make the image for me. "The Hills are Alive..." dare I say, "with the sound of music.." (sorry, on a musical lyrics kick as of late.)  Adding the sky and the field of flowers in the foreground makes for a complete near/far landscape.

Personal choice/option from me.  While the flowers upfront help create depth, I'd experiment with cropping from the bottom to maybe at least 25% of the flowers, and with that, a similar crop off the sky to really emphasize the pano look to this - and bring even more attention to the hills.  Just a thought. maybe not an improvement, but an alternate choice.

For sure, I'd either clone/crop at least a little off the top to remove the little gap on the top edge, UL. no biggie.

Wow, a really fine field of flowers image. I like the foreground open spots, they help the mid-ground, love the hills and an impressive sky, just a bit too much of the sky for me.

Those hills are fascinating, covered with flowers I guess.  Great timing to catch the blooms and some interesting clouds too.  My only observation using the med. zoom is that the flowers and hills feel too far away.  Might have gotten close to the flowers in FG, used the hills for backdrop, or moved in tight on the hills.  A tighter crop might bring it all closer.  Probably just my way of looking at the scene - your vision is just fine as is, just an alternative as Lon speaks of.  Must be nice to have these kind of subject this early in the year.  Californians never have down time regarding subjects or seasons - there is always something happening somewhere.

I have been trying not to sneeze since I pulled this up.sad  Nice image and very cool conditions.  I was hoping you were getting in on some of blooms happening in California.   Pretty incredible.

Harley, what a wonderful site. So good to see open space like this. I recall Huell Howser doing a program on this area when he was still alive. It sure was gorgeous out there on his review of the location too.

The only thing I can offer up is if one wants to get close and personal with brittle brush the Whitewater Canyon this year was full of the stuff......no nits at all from me on this image, just enjoying the view here.....devil

Real nice. Has that signature Goldman broad expansive landscape look and conveys the expansiveness of the Carrizo. A matter of personal taste but I could see bumping the saturation of the foreground flowers. IMO, this image needs to be viewed large to be fully appreciated.

Remarkable how the cloud shapes sort of mimic the patterns of the foreground foliage, and then across the lower middle, a convoluted pattern of hills and riles, all covered with wildflowers.  Love it, Harley.

Crazy flower show Harley; I'm enjoying this. I do like Harry's ideas. With such a broad amount of flowers in the background, I'd love to see a wider angle that brought the foreground closer.
