Sanderling

I'm pretty sure that's what this is, but I'm not too hot on the peeps.  I posted this yesterday but when I looked at it on-line I realized that the warm light looked overdone.  This is pretty much as it came off the card with enough brightening to bring it almost to white at the hottest point.  I went down to Padre Island National Seashore yesterday morning and got there well before they opened and had the beach to myself for almost three hours.  Since if faces east, I stayed in the surf (which I happen to love) to keep the light on the shore birds.

7D2, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, hand held kneeling in the sand and water, f/8, 1/1600, iso 640, manual exposure.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped to 11.3 MP including the border.  Taken at 7:34 AM yesterday morning.

Comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

It is a Sanderling. I love the warm morning glow also the great detail. They move so fast it is hard to catch with beak in sand..

Dennis,  I especially love the feather detail and its soft reflection in the wet sand. The absence of a distracting background makes it all about the Sanderling!

Really nice light and foraging pose. The reflection though not "mirror like" adds a lot imo. Techs look good. Great beachy scene!

Nicely done handheld, Dennis.  Phil said it well for these. They are numerous here, but because they are so active I often pass them up.

I think the light makes the shot on this one, Dennis. A beautiful look at this Sanderling. I really like this composition with the smooth sand transitioning from wet to dry. Great job!!!

A nice, clean image, Dennis. The lighting is gorgeous! I really like your composition. As the others were saying, they certainly are hard to photograph!
