Splish Splash

This Great Blue Heron put on a very entertaining show while fishing for Mark Seaver and myself at the River's edge and this was my favorite image from the series. It has a powerful feel to me and we were positioned perfectly to take advantage of the mix of sun and shadows lighting.
Hand held from boat, 85% of full frame.

The splash is awesome, Mike, and the techs look excellent.  With the direction the heron is facing this crop feels a bit awkward to me.  A little more room on the right, if you have it or less on the left if you don't would work better, I think.  Excellent timing and plenty of shutter speed to stop the water.  A very cool image.

Hi Mike! I like this a lot, and I don't mind the crop. Great action with the frozen 3D water splash and I especially like the leaves on the water giving the image some color. The low angle and wings up pose adds a lot too imo. Nice work!

The large image is a must see!  The detail is amazing and the color in the water is magical.  Well done!

The catch on the action with all of the flying water while seeing the Heron's head is great.  The colors in the water and in the bird's wings are fine additions.  (none of my shots of this bird were sharp.)
