This is the first shot of seen of one of these not in the water.  NIce perch and composition.  Bird is really sharp except for the feet.

Excellent. All techs (exposure, sharpness) look good. Nice open view and appropriate setting. Good and natural colors.

Well done.

Gorgeous, Barbara.  Beautiful pose and light and excellent detail.  I also like the surrounding reeds.  My only nit is that it's a touch tight, but with a fixed focal length lens that sometimes happens, and it's easy enough to modify the look with a properly colored mat around the image.  Great work.

Beautiful shot, Barbara!  I love his colors!  Great composition, and the greenery around him makes him stand out.  I see you used a 400mm lens, so maybe I misunderstood your question about a good body and lens for bird photography.  I had recommenced the 100-400mm L lens.

Amazing colors on this bird!  We sure don't have anything as bright as this here.  this is a very nice capture, Barbara!  The exposure is just right and the detail is excellent.  The large version is particularly nice!

Hi Barbara
The color on this Gallinule really pops, nice work. The 100-400L ll, will get you a little sharper photograph and better range in shotting. (You can not us a 1.4 extenber with a 7D)

Hi Barb,

Nice shot--I love those colors--BG is nice and soft, and subject and framing vegetation are sharp. Well done..................Jim

An awesome look at this Gallinule, Barbara. Congrats on getting it up on a perch. A very nice job on the exposure, the blue patch on the forehead looks great, it is very easy to over expose it. You have very nice detail in the bird. A very nice image!!!!!!
