Touring Tern

This Arctic Tern flew by while I was standing on the city dock practicing my photographic skeet shooting techniques so I was prepared to lead the target, pull the trigger and follow through smoothly after the shot.  It had just left the water after an unsuccessful dive for fish so it was trailing water droplets which showed up quite nicely in the photo (at least if you look at the large version).

Great look at the tern against a nice water background.  I do wish the image was brighter (especially the bird).

Hi Gary
I agree with Keith, opening the exposer a half stop would help the overall look.

Pretty dark overall, especially the black cap/eye area.  If this was captured in RAW it may be possible to hold the highlights and use the black slider to increase detail in the blacks.

Good capture and comp, but I agree with the others that the bird need a smidgeon more light.

I agree with the others that the Tern could be brighter, but great job in getting excellent detail in a flight shot.  Nice pose against the blue background.

The turn really stands out nicely against the water background.  Detail is really fine.  But the darkness hinders the quality of the image as others have stated.  We typically have some of these here in the Olympia area each year but I did not see any this year.

The tern shows well in the larger image, Gary, though it looks as if you might be able to go just a bit brighter.  Excellent detail in the bird and I like the bg.
