Osprey, Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive
6/10/2017, 9:07:15 AM
Canon EOS 7D Mark II EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM +1.4x III @ 560mm
f/8, 1/2000, ISO 400
Aperture priority, Evaluative metering
Processing was basically me starting to learn how to correctly process, so I don't think you guys want to know all that.  Cropped to 58% of full frame.

In the few years I've been where Ospreys have been I've seen a whole bunch of them.  When I've seen them they have always been working:  fishing for themselves, eating, in a nest with baby Ospreys, guarding the nest, fishing for the babies and the other parent, chasing hawks away from the nest.  For me, this is the first time I've ever seen an Osprey preening.  I was really happy for him/her.  I have images of the preening, but its eyes are closed or partially closed or can't be seen well during the actual preening, so I'm posting this one instead.  I'm keeping the other ones for myself, though. :)

All feedback would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

Looks good to me as posted. That's a good pose, the branch has interesting curves, and the clouds and sky make a great background.

Oh Barbara, this is excellent!  Such detail in the feathers, and a little bit of out of focus clouds in the background just adds to this beautiful shot.  He is giving you the eye!

That Osprey is certainly giving you the look, Barbara. Very nice detail and overall image quality. The exposure on the whites looks really good. Great job!!!!

Hey Barb,

Looks like you are enjoying your new camera.  You have some nice lighting and agree with the other reviewers in that you nailed the look with Mr. Osprey!  Well done........................Jim

Another very fine capture, Barbara!  Exposure and detail are superb and I love the background.  This is one of those shots where the centered composition is the right choice, for sure.

Excellent detail, exposure and pose, Barbara.  While this composition works, I think you might want to try a vertical comp-maybe a 6x7 or something else that's fairly wide, but still larger in the vertical direction.  There just seems to be more space than necessary on the right.
