Grey Catbird

I just went to our Botanical Gardens this morning, but was rained out.  I was hoping for a nice cool, cloudy few hours there, but the weather predictions were wrong.  But, I did get this shot of a Grey Catbird.  I was using my Canon 100-400mm L with IS activated, at 400mm, handheld, at 1/400, f5.6, ISO 2000.  Comments and suggestions welcome.

Nice sharp image.  YOu were fortunate to get one of these guys out in the open. I Can't say I'm real crazy about the perch.

Thank you, Skip.  Yes, I agree, not wild about the perch either, but he would listen to me to go perch in a pretty bush!  cool

Nice pose and detail, Shirley.  I've never gotten a shot of one of these except deep in the shadows.  I think you could crop it a bit tighter, but it's nice as posted.

Thank you, Dennis.  I keep forgetting to add any info about whether I cropped an image!  I think I probably cropped it a bit over 50% already.  I will try to remember in my next post.  Never think of it until I have already posted the image.

A nice clean look at this Catbird, Shirley. Congrats on getting it out in the open. You captured a nice pose with a great headturn. As mentioned the perch is not ideal.

Good look at the bird with a nice pose/head turn.  I wonder if you could clone out the white area on the perch?
