Oxeye Daisy II
by Dennis Plank
A couple of people commented on my last daisy post that the white-on-white was a bit too close. As it happens, when I was photographing it, I also took some shots with a light blue piece of construction paper for a bg (construction paper works very well having a very nice matte finish and available in a wide variety of colors).
While the whites do appear to be pretty hot in this image, they are not blown. Rather, the shallow angle of the leading petals and a slightly oof condition robs them of much detail.
5Diii, EF 180 f/3.5L, tripod and cable release in live view mode, f/22, 1/10 sec, iso 400, aperture priority, pattern metering, +1 EV exposure compensation. Processed in LR & PS CC. Cropped to a 4x5 from a vertical original plus just a bit more off to position the flower where I wanted it horizontally. I also moved the stem about 1/3 petal to the left of its original position. Light was from the skylight in my bathroom.
Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.
Thanks,
