Cedar Waxwing
by Dennis Plank
I spent a couple of hours in my blind yesterday afternoon since we had overcast skies and had quite an assortment of visitors at the little pond I installed a month or so ago. This was probably my favorite because it's hard to find them down around eye level unless you can stake out a good berry bush that they've found. It also popped up and perched to give me a few nice BOAS poses before it left that have smoother backgrounds, but I liked the drinking pose here.
7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 361 mm, tripod with ball head and Wimberley Sidekick, f/8, 1/400, iso 1250, aperture priority, pattern metering, -1/3 EV. Processed in LR & PS CC. Cropped to 10 MP before resizing, mostly to eliminate some really ugly oof foreground. I also had to remove some bright dead grass stems from the bg and green ones from the foreground in processing. I need to go out and remove them physically! Image taken at 3:30 pm yesterday under overcast skies.
Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

I am just going to add on to the good work comments. I like the water drop.

As a matter of interest a lot of my pool stuff at the woodland site are done at 80th of a second. Its surprising what you can get away with especially on fast burst. You loose some but you get get some !! Flash only worked for me in film days as there was no other choice. Mind you I did use three of them.!
