Busy Dad

David Schoen and I spent some time this morning at a local wetland area called McClane Creek.  This Common Yellowthroat was busy supplying his young and I was able to get several shots, though by the time the sun got to the area, the light was rather harsh.  While other shots were closer, I liked the habitat and mouthful in this image.

As a note, I managed to catch a take-off of this bird from a cattail but even at 1/2000 there was significant motion blur-they're fast.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, tripod with ballhead and Wimberley Sidekick, f/7.1, 1/2000, iso 640, aperture priority, pattern metering, -2/3 EV.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped from a horizontal original to 8.2 MP before resizing.  Taken this morning at 7:34 AM.

Your comments and criticisms are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I really like the surroundings and the colors and the mouthful the bird has, and the simple background.

You are able to get a much cleaner shot then I was of this and I think we were both at about the same distance although in different locations.   Despite the harsh lighting at the time, the shadows and background make this a very pleasing image.  Good environmental point of view.  I like it.
