Redwing Blackbird

While Dennis Plank was taking pictures of the Common Yellowthroat, I was nearby and caught this male Redwing Blackbird calling to all its friends. Dennis and I arrived at the McClane Creek nature trail at about 6:30 in the morning and didn't see anyone else there until about 9:30 just as we were leaving and the light was getting too harsh for any further avian photography. Considering that this area is about 25 minutes from our respective homes we are fortunate that it is there and seldom used.

Nice job on this Blackbird, David, particularly since the light was getting pretty intense by the time you took this. Great calling pose and a nice composition. You always seem to get the best perches.

Nice work on exposure and keeping the blacks looking black while showing plenty of textrue and detail.

Good work on the blacks, David. He was certainly yammering about something.

Beautiful shot, David, and I just love the perch as well as him calling out. Nicely done.
