I was in the mountains in eastern Arizona a couple weeks ago and came across these corn lilies growing close to a stream.

A wonderful subject for this kind of image, Doug.  They strong lines of these always apprealed to me and you caught them well.

These have great lines and twists and lines all through them Doug. Very nice colors and nice lighting.

These leaves do make a great subject, Doug, with their strong lines and great light/dark variation.  While I could see cropping this to focus on the main plant, I find that I really like the effect that the partial leaves on the left add.  I think part of why they work well is that they're darker the the main subject.  Was that natural or your processing?  Either way it's a good effect.

Thank you for the comments.  When I get to the mountains in Colorado in late July, these plants are generally too tall and even flowering, so I was happy to see younger plant in AZ a few weeks ago.
Mark, the leaves on the left wet a little lower and did not catch as much light as the right side leaves.  I did a levels adjustment for darker shadows, but all ot the editing was simple with global adjustment for this image.  Il left the left side leaves and I thought they gave a nice contrast to off center the right side.
