ISO 200

Sugar Hill, NH

This image was taken shortly before one of the most beautiful sunsets I have seen in a while. Before heading out we were not overly optimistic about a sunset because of the heavy abundance of clouds. Needless to say I am glad we put ourselves in position capture a sunset rather than just deciding not to go.

As always thanks for taking a look and leaving a comment or suggestion.

Not sure when you took this, hope there were plenty of lupines for you up there. So, this is nice but where is the big sunset?  How long are we going to have to wait?sad  Some nice light grazing the mountainsides, looks like the presidential range in the clouds - no surprise there.  Maybe it cleared for sunset. frown  I think the nicest light is in the bottom 2/3 of the image - not sure the upper part of the sky is adding all that much, though is does add to the airy feel of the image.  Might crop above the bright clouds to accentuate the mountians.

Very nice, Ed. The light is good with a nice tonal range. I think Harry's crop suggestion has merit.

The quality of light is very appealing.  There's a nice sense of it finding it's way through even on a cloudy day.

That low-angle light is really sweet. Even without the light in the sky yet, I think this is an excellent image. I could also get into the pano crop as suggested.

This really opens up nicely in the large version.  There is great texture in the clouds even in the gray areas.  The spotlighting on the mountain is very nice and I really like the way that the clouds and land is lit further in the background.  If you were inclined to do so, I think there is room to boost the saturation on this within the realm of being believably natural.

Sweet evening light, Ed.  I would vote for a crop off the top as Harry suggested.  The large view is superb.

Thanks for your thoughts everyone; always appreciated. Here is a repost with your crop suggestion and a slight increase in saturation.
Harry: The lupines were so so in the upper field. While we were there the wind seemed to blow constantly. I only came away with a couple of lupine images.
