Shot a couple of weeks ago. Great morning at Sacramento NWR. D500, 150-600 @600, 1/4000, f9, ISO 800. Your thoughts are much appreciated.

Jim, nice clear clean image. I like the negative space to the left.

A beautiful reflection shot, Jim. I've always loved the looks of these and you captured it very well with excellent exposure. My only nit is that it feels just a bit tight on the right.

I wondered when I posted it, if it wasn't a little tight on the right. Thanks for confirming that Dennis.

Very nice reflection image. These guys can be difficult to expose well. Perhaps moving the grebe slightly to the left? Tule Lake NWR and Putnam Point on Upper Klamath Lake are also good locations to capture this species.

Hi Jim
Looks like you ran out of room on the right hand side of the frame, maybe changing the crop to a 16 by 9 would help. Nice detail, coloring and reflection.

Beautiful image Jim. I also would move the Grebe to the left a little. Just seems tight on the right side. Love the red eye!

Beautiful detail, Jim. The calm water makes the bird stand out, the reflection is quite nice and your exposure handled the whites well. And yes, I agree about the tight framing RHS. It's a simple fix with the latest Photoshop, you can easily "re-frame" using the content aware crop option. It effectively adds open space that looks natural, and you can crop as well as correct for tilt, all in one action. It's a very versatile option and if you're careful you can get excellent results.

Here is another version with more room on the right. Used content-aware crop.

Jim, this is very nice. Good handling of the whites, and I like the repost with some added to the right. It looks like there are some subtle dust spots around the frame that could be cleaned up.

Just saw the repost, Jim. That bit of added canvas did the trick.
