Another juvenile in the pool by my blind.  Thanks to Richard Ditch for providing the ID.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, tripod with ballhead and Wimberley Sidekick, f/8, 1/30 sec, iso 1600, aperture priority, pattern metering, -2/3 EV.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped to a 10 MP 6x7 format before resizing.  Taken at 6:06 am under cloudy skies on July 16th.

Your comments and critiques are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi Dennis, just trying to get my head around the techs and what the Histogram looked like as you say it was under cloudy skies, so yuo went to ISO1600 correct for SS, but drop the EV by two thirds, so was it down to light on the water you needed to drop the exposure, as in doing so the SS increases? Just trying to think if there is another way to get some more SS to help and avoid increasing ISO. Have you considered using a flash, but off camera???

Like the bedraggled look and the lowish POV. Adding a luminosity mask to the water I feel will add more deth to the image and perhaps crop a sliver off the top where the first dark ripple starts????

Cute little guy you captured here Dennis, those are some tough techs, I was going to say it looks a touch soft but considering what you had to work with I think you did well.  If you have the full reflection I think that would make the image more appealing.  devil

Dennis, I think the larger version has perfect detail. I really like images like this. I hope to get a good image of a bird bathing one day.

A beautiful capture of this little guy, Dennis.  Love his wet ruffled feathers.  Nicely done.

Always nice to see something you typically don't see.  It appears that your pool is attracting a lot of variety.  Wet or not, you are achieving some excellent images in this new location; this one included.  The color of the water here is very nice and sets off this wonderful image of the warbler.
