Foggy Morning

I shot this scene this morning on my way into work. It was on and off foggy and sunny, and when I saw this, I had to stop and take a few photos. I was very limited in my composition options because I had to shoot over a fence, but below overhanging trees. I have a few shots with the whole tree, but the top is way overexposed against the sky. I may try to see what I can get from those files some other day.

A very pretty, misty scene, but the cut-off tree is a little problematic.
Still a "keeper" image.

I like the mood of this scene, Craig.  The foreground seems a bit bright and contrasty - I would consider a targeted adjustment to reduce the contrast in the foreground.  I do have to admit that before I read your comment that one of my first thoughts was that I would like to see the top of the tree, so I think it would be worth working up the composition with the top of the tree.  Having said that this is still a nice image with great mood.

I do like the mood and composition of the image. It would have been nice to have the whole tree in the image, but sometimes you have to work with limitations. I do agree with toning down the foreground.

Craig, I agree that having the whole tree would be nice but one does have to work with what is there at the time. I like the overall look and mood this has and it would probably be fun shooting it at different times to see what you come up with.

I guess I'm going against the grain here, but I like the "high key" look to the FG. I think you accurately captured what you saw. Also the cut off tree doesn't bother me.

I like the image overall, Craig, and the bright foggy light. The cut off tree is not an issue for me, but I agree with Bryan about the bright and contrasty foreground. Maybe just tone that down a bit.

I am OK with the tree being cut off.  I think the bigger issue is that it is centered. Moving it right might have been a good choice as there appears to be some nice rays on the left side.  Perhaps there is something there that limits that option.   At any rate, I like what you have here and it's nice that it is so close to home.

The mood in this scene is wonderful ... Like something out of a fairy tale.

Craig, I love the light and the misty mood here, just wish I could see the whole tree.

I guess I'm one of the few that likes the tree cropped as is. I like how it contributes to the strong composition of shapes.
