"Good luck comes to those who are prepared." Gary Player.

I indulged myself with a new Really Right Stuff TVC-34L tripod a few weeks ago in anticipation of our trip to Alaska at the end of August. I'm 6'4" so I need the height. This gadget can exceed my height by over a foot fully extended and with the head and camera on top of that I can get almost to 8 feet above ground! It came in handy this morning when I went out to shoot some Wisteria blooms in our back yard. I had to stand on a stool to look through the viewfinder. I think my neighbor thinks I'm daft. I had just set up and had popped off a shot or two and this bee crashed the party and was accommodating enough to stop his wings for one capture. Please view the large version. All comments welcome.>=))>

Wisteria is so hard to capture. I like your approach! You really did indulge yourself; that tripod will thin your wallet aplenty.frown Be sure to take some wet gear for your camera. The Fall rains, at least along the coast, can run for weeks at a time. There is a reason Alaska is called "the land of the blue tarp."

Looking at the large image, the bee caused a little double image on the petal above its head.

Oh, also Louis Pasteur said it before Gary Player: "Fortune favors the prepared mind."

Bill, it is always so difficult to let cohabit flowers and insects. I have given up.
