Sunflower

Gallery: FloraPosted July 30, 201764 views2 comments
My intention was to photograph a field full of sunflowers, however during the night heavy rain made most of the blooms look untidy but I was lucky to find this one in a sheltered spot. Taken hand held as too high for the tripod on Nikon E885.
Although some years ago I took a number of floral pics on a film camera I am new to the digital world so any comments are appreciated.

Chris, Welcome to NPN, and welcome to the Flora Gallery! A beautiful Sunflower image. One small criticism, if it is one—The Sunflower looks as if it was meant to be turned 90 degrees clockwise. If not, it is a pretty good trick!cool As that is a sixteen year old camera you are shooting with, It may not have had a chip capable of orienting a vertical exposure. Nonetheless it took a very good , well detailed picture. The bee is a plus also, btw.

I am glad to see you have already started commenting. That is the secret to moving ahead at NPN. Also, if you would, it helps criticism if you post the exif data on a shot—at a minimum, f-stop, shutter speed, ISO. Thanks for joining. I look forward to more of your pictures!

Chris: Welcome to NPN in general and to the finest Flora gallery on the planet in particular. Really nice light and color and the bee is a nice party crasher. I might be inclined to crop this a bit tighter from the top to match the petal clipping on the bottom and perhaps even some on the left to eliminate some of the green foliage in the BG. The blue sky BG on the right is terrific and I would keep much or all of it. Great to have you aboard and looking forward to more. >=))>
