Natural Balcony

Finally I found the time to go out in the nature again. Happy to be back.
During summer afternoons the mountains depicted (Brenta Dolomites) "produce" a lot of clouds that very often become thunderstorms. I used an incredibly sharp telephoto manual lens (a very old nikkor 135mm) to shoot this image. The black and white was the way to go IMO to enhance the beautiful situation of lights and shadows.
Any comments or suggestions are always appreciated.

That's a very impressive mountain range Matt.  The clouds are lovely and there is just enough light in the lower section to discern the shapes and crags in a realistic tonal map.

The Dolomites look wonderful in b/w, Mattia.  Very nice image of some very rugged country.  I would suggest a crop from the bottom, to just above the light spot in the bottom middle.   The fore is just a tad too dark for my taste.  Just a thought, very dramatic and a fine image as is.

Interesting image Mattia. I love the top 1/3; what drama and contrast. I'm not as keen on that bottom ridge, and would be tempted to play with cropping it out to focus more on the rest.

Mattia,

Glad you've been able to get back out there doing nature photography.  It sure is great therapy! ;-)

A grand mountain, alpine landscape.  I like your composition and including the foreground ridge - looks like a grand place for a castle.  The light striking that center canyon stands out for me.

I think the b&w works well, but am curious about color; I imagine the foreground ridge to be green?  I do agree though the light/shadows show well with the b&w.  The only suggestioni I have might be some increased contrast - if only slightly.  But we're in personal tasted territory.

Well seen and captured.

Very dramatic, Mattia. The light and tones look very nice and show off the pillars nicely. I do agree with Gary's crop suggestion. The clouds work especially well.
