Trans-Alaska Pipeline-WC

While driving from Deadhorse to Wiseman, AK along the Haul Road (Dalton Highway), we stopped to get a closer look at the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, a very noticeable part of the landscape.  The pipeline runs 800 miles from Prudhoe Bay on the North Slope to Valdez in the south and is buried in some areas except where there is permafrost, then the pipeline is above ground.   It was built in a zigzag pattern to allow flexibility as needed such as in an earthquake situation.

Great lines for the WC theme with the road, the pipeline the mountains and the valley Paula. Makes me want to go back to Alaska and explore some more.

Paula, the pipeline and the road both work well leading my eyes intothe distance.  The smallness of the line where it leaves the frame creates a fine sense of long distance.  It would be fun to go exploring in those mountains.

Paula, this pipeline and total oil infrastructure associated with it was built long after I'd left this wonderful state. This works well with regard to the WC theme and provides a bit of a starting and ending point visually. As the scene appears to be toward a midday take and more documentary in nature I will only suggest a slight turn down in gamma exposure, but no need to go beyond that thought in post processing.

I like this as a truly informative scene overall. My favorite classes in college were cultural & physical geography, this would have been an excellent image for that class review.

Really cool lines in this one, Paula.  I particularly like the distant pipeline snake.
