I believe this is an immature Mallard male burning off some extra energy shortly after arriving at this tidal pond. It has been raining hard here for many days and we got an hour or two of spotty sunshine so I went out with my new Sony FE 100-400 GM lens to see how it performed with the a6500.  The ducks are small and usually hard to approach so I added the 1.4 TC that I had been using on the 70-200.  With the crop factor it gives me 840 mm equivalent.  It's the most reach I've ever had and so far I'm pretty happy with the combination.

Sony a6500, FE100-400GM w/1.4 TC @ 560mm (840mm equiv.), ISO-500, f/8.0, 1/2000, hand held, small crop for composition.

It looks like Sony is putting out some pretty nice lenses these days, Gary.  Detail is excellent and so are the colors.  If you have a bit more room on the bottom and left, you might add it back as it feels fairly crowded on those two sides.  A really nice pose.
