Great timing, David, couldn't be better. Thanks for posting. Detail and BG worked in your favor here.

Different, Dave, but I like it a lot.  Exquisite detail.

This is definitely one where lack of eye contact from the bird is excused!  I like that you can see the tiny bit of bill on the other side of the fish.  Good one!  Sharon

Killer capture, David!  The clarity and detail are superb and the centered composition works perfectly for this scene.  The color gradients in the background really add to the scene and the speared fish is a huge bonus!  devil

Definitely a bit different shot but like the change up David. Seeing the fish's eye really makes him the main subject instead of the bird. My only real nit is the diagonal branch at the very bottom going the opposite direction. It just doesn't add any value to the image and sort of pulls my eye. I might consider cropping to a 4x5 vertical and crop right there to lose it. Just a thought.

This is different but I like what you've done here.  As an action photo I think it is very interesting with respect to light, form, detail and the interaction between the bird and the fish.  The angles in the background are intriguing.  I think this is what makes it work.  I'm okay with the diagonal branch but I can also see it being cloned out.

Perfect timing, David!  No eye contact of the bird doesn't bother me since I do have eye contact with the "catch of the day"!!!  Nicely done.

David: I really like how this is as much about the fish as it is about the bird. The rear view is unique and well composed. Techs are spot on. Richard
