Found on the ground in Totem Bight Historical Park, Ketchikan, Alaska, this is an ancient Healdic Pole, meaning at a time before writing, this artifact tells and records the story of one particular family. Time and decay, unfortuantely, have brought this magnificent carving tragically to the ground, but the Park has been re-creating it, although apparently not so sure what to do (or can be done) with the original other than let visitors like me marvel at its power and to do it up close.

Wonderful image Dave but this probably belongs in the Pop Gallery due to mostly hand-of-man.
