It is that time of year when the Manzanita in the Sierra Foothills shed their bark leaving very interesting textures and 'curls'. This particular bush is in my backyard.
This is a 6-image stack for depth of field.
I did not make any adjustments to the merged file other than a levels layer, and a slight burn in the upper right quadrant. I did not adjust Hue/Saturation, so I am interested in what you think about color.

I appreciated your thoughts on my recent images, and I would appreciate your comments on this one.

What a terrific intimate capture of the Manzanita! The curls are wonderful and arranged so beautifully including the two longer shavings; reminds me of real cinnamon sticks. ;-)
Processing in general looks great - love the color. I agree with Harley a bit on some additional burning. But to take that even further, I might drop the levels even a shade darker. If you haven't already, add the old Levels layer with overlay or soft light blending mode, drop the opacity... you know the trick. Just a slight kick to contrast, color and sat... we're talking minor ticks, no major change required here. For another way of describing, for once how images are often displayed here, I like the look of the original post. The larger view seems to open up a 1/3 of a stop or so. Hopefully that makes sense.
Well seen, captured and presented PB!

Regardless, this gives me that same feeling or look. The wood appears somewhat metallic, a good thing, and is a tweak from the natural world of "chameleon" effect or affect. The one item I do know about Manzanita, that stuff is like a rock, or as seen here, maybe metal or even iron.
Processing appears very good to me........
