Shaking it Off

This is the Spirit Bear that found a spot in the stream where salmon eggs were accumulating.  I captured this image just after he lifted his head and shook off the water. Processed with Lightroom, Photoshop and Lightzone. Comments and critiques welcome.

Very impressive image, but I am not sure what is in left BG and left upper corner. Looks like a manmade structure and maybe rock? They are a bit distracting.

Jerry: absolutely love the head shake and in particular how the water and the bear's head are curved in the bottom portion of the frame. Can't figure out what the object is in the ulc. Congrats! Richard

Thanks for the comments. The object in the ULC is part of a large log the bear was standing under.

I don't usually like cloning objects out, but I thought I would in this case. See what you think.

Hmmm an yes.  I think it is much improved without the end of that log intruding.  Well done capturing the detail, especially the swirl of water coming off the chin.  If this is a crop, I would be interested to see the effect with a little more space, foreground and right.

I think the last version is the best without the log and increased bottom and right side. Exceptional image. What I earlier referenced as a "manmade structure" appears to be a portion of a raft and rowing frame on left side toward left bottom. Or my imagination is just going wild. In any event. I really like this.

Sounds like your imagination is indeed going wild. enlightened  My image entitled "Diving for Eggs" is at the same location. You can clearly see the log and part of a branch. Thanks for the comments.

The image with a little more space feels like a significant improvement to me.  It feels less confining to the bear and centering the whirling action is, I believe, a solid compositional choice.

What an outstanding halo of spray, Jerry.  The lighting on the bear and details in it's face are great.  That thing in the ulc looks like a satellite, it's disappearance in the repost is a good improvement as are the bit of extra space.  Seems like you hit the jackpot in bear sightings on your trip.

Awesome Jerry. Excellent crisp water drops and features captured in the bear. Also, can't get a better head on view. First class. Third time is a definite charmer.
