Sweetwater Wetlands Park, Gainesville, Florida

Canon EOS 7D Mark II EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM +1.4x III @348mm
f/7.1, 1/640, ISO 800
Aperture Priority, Evaluative Metering
Imported into LR, processed in CC PS 2018, about 75% of full frame (see below)

This whole scene really appealed to me when I first saw it on my computer.  I thought that I probably should desaturate it and clone out the sun spots in the reeds at the bottom.  I left the ones at the top alone because they were soft and not bright.  I do realize the grasses over the bird's head cast some shadow on the bird.

I only cropped it to 75% because of how much I liked the scene.  In your opinion should I crop it tighter?  Also, in your opinion are the colors still too bright?

I know I am doing some experimenting lately, but I am having fun and still working toward doing a good job and gathering as many opinions as I can about what that means. :)

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.  Please look at the larger version if possible.  Thank you!

A lovely scene, Barbara.  The spider web is a real plus to me.  I think your composition works just fine.  Tge only thing I'd look at changing might be the bright oof reed that angles inward from the lower left (it actually looks like it might be considered the second one in).  For some reason it, more than any of the others, draws my eye.

There's a lot to like in this - the grassy stalks that ther sparrow is perched upon, and especially the spider web. It needs to be viewed at larger scale to appreciate IMO. I've sent a crop suggestion directly to you to consider.

This is the crop suggestion Richard sent to me (my redo using his crop suggestion).  I love it.

I love the spider web Barbara. Nice shot of the sparrow too. The repost is really nice.

The repost on this is much better.  It allows one to focus more on the bird and spiderweb.  It also appears that you trimmed the highlights a little bit and that helps.  Overall a pleasing wetland scene.

Beautiful scene, Barbara! The distant reeds add a painterly touch to the image, and the sharp spider web is a great bonus!
