Black Ridge

Sunrise near Relief Peak in California's emigrant wilderness. Currently living at sea level and not in the mountains much, I felt the altitude quite a bit, slept poorly, and had a headache. After shooting the starry sky in the morning, I went back to the tent to rest a little more, and almost missed sunrise. Luckily, I managed to still get a shot, which is shown here.

Nikon D610, 20/1.8 AF-S, tripod.

Beautiful light and scene. This is well worth putting up with a bit of altitude sickness (know the feeling). This needs to be viewed large to really enjoy the detail and nuance

The streaming light beams and the streaming clouds are terrific, Basil, they create a great feeling of morning light bursting over the mountains.  The details in the mountains, especially the foreground ridge, complete an outstanding view.

The diagonals work well here Basil.  Light is nice too.
