Evening Creekside

This was a peaceful creekside campspot in the eastern Sierra. It was starting to get dark and it was time for a single malt and some photography.

Very nicely composed, Harley. Beautiful, subtle tones and textures in the foliage and the creek works well to pull the eye through the frame. Processing looks spot-on. No suggestions.

Harley,

At least the campground didn't suck. ;-)  Wait, that doesn't sound right.  If I said, "At least it's not windy..." then you'll get my meaning.

Although most times I want to eek out color and saturation, I really like the understated and natural colors you've presented here.  The longer shutter speed works beautifully on the creek giving us a hint of the time of day.  Subtle, but important as well, I like that you've included the background slope, which provides another clue of this being in canyon of the Eastern Sierra;  a place where the autumn colors of the aspen, willow, birch and cottonwood congregate.

Understated like I mentioned, but wonderfully beautiful as well.

Nice image Harley. I, too, like the inclusion of the rocky slope in the upper right. I may have used a faster SS for that water.

The details and textures really pop in the larger version, Harley. This does have a quiet peaceful mood to it as you mentioned. Looks like a great spot to unwind and end the day; especially with that malt. cool

What a peaceful scene Harley.  Been in those types of places many times.  It brings a sense that all is right in the world.  I really like the smooth water, the wonderful fall foliage and colors, and the rising level of bushes and trees going back into the frame.
