Lower Falls

I took a trip up to New Hampshire a few weeks back, and on one particularly rainy day, headed to the Lower Falls of the Ammonoosuc River. Here's a detail image from that area. Looking forward to any comments and critiques!

5d2, 24-105L @ 85mm
Blend of 2 exposures:
1s @ f/11, ISO100 for the base
0.5s @ f/11, ISO100 for better texture in the water

Excellent intimate water scene. Has almost an abstract quality. Personal preference but I might try toning down the saturation a notch in the rock.

Beautiful little stream image. I would agree with Dave about the rock saturation, but that is a personal preference. Real nice!

Craig,

Wonderful, intimate view of the rock and flowing water.  I especially like and appreciate the point of view; almost like you're laying on  your belly shooting straight across.  The geology is fascinating as this really captures the eons of time and erosion, wearing down of the rock.

I agree a bit with the saturation at the bottom, but for me I wish more if there wasn't all the pine litter.  But that's included in nature and the scene is of course comletely natural.  I don't see any other alternative other than to knock down the sat a little.  I like the rock and formation at the bottom anchoring and framing the scene.

Craig, This is wonderful. Excellent exposure and then shooting the second one at 1/2 sec. for the water worked out great. This composition really works for me. I agree with just a bit less saturation (doesn't need much ) on the rocks and that being mostly the foreground one. Really nice work on this!

This is a wonderful intimate scene, Craig. Great job with the blend and the textures in the larger version are fantastic. How did you like the falls?  Mike and I were there this past June as an afterthought while checking out some waterfalls and really liked the place.

Thank you all for the comments. I had to increase the saturation of the background rock, but it appears that the foreground rock is a bit over, so thanks to all that pointed that out. I'll do a little rework on the file.

Ed, I actually learned about this place from your photos, so thanks for the tip! I liked the falls a lot, but it was a bit overwhelming at first. I'll definitely be spending more time here in the future to really get comfortable with all of the photographic possibilities.

Thought this looked familiar just by the color of the rocks. Was there this past summer. I really like this lesser known falls and your fine interpretation of them

I like this little scene, Craig.  The contours formed by the flowing water over the rocks and the beautiful color make this a delight to view!
