Pied billed grebe photographed from my car.  I followed him up the road and took quite a few reasonable shots.  This is a sizeable crop (30% removed) from the original. 300 mm f4 (1/3200 sec at f6.3, Iso 400), Levels, Brightness & Contrast, Shadoows & Highlights, Dfine 2 for BG noise...........................Jim

I love these little guys but rarely get a chance to photograph them. I really like the open framing which accentuates the diminutive size. Nice work, Jim.

I love them, too.  I like your composition.  I don't think I've seen one with a white and black bill like that.  That looks really cool.

A good look at this Pied Billed Grebe.  Good detail and reflection.  The water looks good with the concentric circles.

Good catch! For every half-way decent image I've gotten of one of these, I've gotten ten upended butts or just water ripples!

I, too, enjoy seeing these little guys.  Nice job getting good detail and the contrasting black and white bill.

Very nice shot, Jim.  I am not familiar with these birds, but he is beautiful, and the reflections are nice.  Great detail in the feathers.

Very nkice angle and detail in the grebe, Jim.  I like the muted palette and the silver water.

These guys are always fun to shoot. Nice placement in the frame on this Jim. This held up well for a large crop. Hard to not have a large crop on these guys since they are so small and somewhat skittish.
