Dawes Glacier, Endicott Arm, Alaska
I've been away from posting for the past several weeks due to being a mostly crazed baseball fan consumed by the Astros. Now that I'm basking in the glow of victory I wanted to get back to posting some images from our Alaska trip a couple of months ago. My wife and I decided to pass on the big cruise ship experience and opted instead for an adventure cruise on a 60 passenger boat with kayaks and skiffs for up close exploration of the glaciers and bays. On our first day we went to the end of Endicott Arm and paddled around the icebergs. I was drawn to the power of the glacier  and its impact on the surrounding land forms. We did get a few calving shows but I wasn't lucky enough to capture them. The sound was pretty spectacular though. I purposely tried to compose this so that the scale wasn't evident but the face of the glacier is close to 100 feet high. All comments welcome.>=))>

Hi Bill,

This is pretty cool.  My only suggestion is to take a sliver off the bottom to get rid of the bright edge and the bright spot in the lower right.  I like the curves and the colors are excellent.  Well done..................Jim

ps.  Yes, It was nice to see Houston win the big one and Verlander was able to get his championship.  The Tigers blew their opportunities during his tenure with the team.

Beautifully done, Bill. I love the colors and textures in the larger version along with the lack of scale. My only suggestion would be a slight crop from the bottom to get rid of the band of ice starting in the middle that extends over to the LLC. Sounds like you had an awesome trip.

Wonderful detail throughout this image. I wonder how that number 2 got carved into the ice, near bottom center left.

Beautifully presented, Bill. Nice graphic image. There's no blue quite like the blue that's in some of these Alaska glaciers. It's a unique color.devil

Bill,

This is IMPRESSIVE!  Not only due to the immenseness of the natural features of the glacier, but also impressive how you have condensed and composed this.  As you mention, the scale isn't all that evident, but the implication of size is pretty clear.

I really like that you've left the blues in there as they contrast nicely with the whites and also with the "dirty" parts of the glacier (I'm sure there's a term for that."

Well done Bill.  Again impressive - both naturally and your portrayal.

Very strong. I like the composition with the curved darker stripes on the glacier leading through the image. Must have been an impressive sight!

Real nicely done, Bill. The bold glacier color looks great and you have composed it well.

I was sorry to see the Dodgers go down in flames, but it was a heck of a good series! Baseball at its best.
