Arctic Blast over Water

This image was taken this weekend during an arctic blast that moved over the area of Rangeley Lake in Maine. The atmosphere was much colder than the water temperature in the lake causing the fog on the surface. It was interesting to watch as it was moving so fast over the warmer water. Hard to photograph as the scene was very monochromatic, I used the levels in photoshop and selected the house as the white point which opened the scene up somewhat. It would be very easy to go Black and White with this one.

I like this scene, Norma.  I'm very familiar with this weather effect (being from the Alaska coast) and you captured it quite well.  It's a good composition and the little bit of brown in the scene makes it real for me.  It would be a good b&w but personally I prefer the subtle colors.

What a neat view, Norma.  The patches of fog look great, as the houses and trees show well even as they are obscured by the fog.  I'm with Gary, in that in many instances of scenes like this, I find the subtle colors adding well to the view.

This almost has a greeting card look to it Norma.  Nice effects and good job with processing.  Congratulations on WP.
