I chose this old wooden wagon wheel as a good subject for testing the Tamron 18-400 lens. This is a significant crop, at least 2x. I am pleased with it, but would like your comments regarding sharpness.

This works for me, John. The placement of the hub not directly on a third seems just right for this particular image, allowing the spokes to create a more dynamic effect.
