Deep in Thought

While staying in Ouray,Colorado for several days, my husband and I drove over to Durango to see the Durango & Silverton vintage steam-powered train that transports tourists over its narrow gauge rail between Silverton and Durango.  Our timing was good as we saw large groups of excited tourists boarding the train for their afternoon trip to Silverton.  As I walked along the sidewalk trying to figure out if there were any good angles to photograph the train, I noticed this man seemingly deep in thought.  I rarely photograph people, especially strangers, but I was drawn in by this man's facial expression and pose.  I especially like his weathered appearance and the way his hand rests against his face.

Paula, well seen and captured. You're right it was a neat take of this individual at rest and seemingly at ease in personal thoughts. I've been to this site a few times, but never took advantage of this type of photographic opportunity.
I could see a few cropping options for another look, but enjoying this one as it is too....Nice work.

Excellent image. You really captured a great expression along with a fine sense of the train. I like this a lot.

This photo brought to mind the line  “She looked out the window her whole life, the way so many women sit their sadness on an elbow.” Great capture!
