Bishop Creek Lodgepole

For anyone who frequents the Bishop Creek area, this scene may look like a familiar one.  This was taken in Fall of 2011 and not processed until now.  I liked the looks of the lodgepole pine and the curvature of the creek.  Color was also not too bad.  C and C are much appreciated.  D300, Tokina 12-24 @ 12 (18 equivalent), 1.3 seconds, F20, ISO 100.  I am pretty sure I used a CP.

This scene does look real familiar, Jim. Nice to see you posting again!

I like the old pine and the color of the water is real nice. You could punch up the saturation in the yellows just a bit. The contrast looks good to my eye. A nice, peaceful image.

Hi Jim,

I agree with Preston.  Punch up the colors and see what it looks like for your taste.  I would try and hue adjustment too - picking the yellows and greens.

Otherwise, I love the comp.  The shutter speed on the water looks great too.

Lovely intimate scene.  Overall contrast looks a little low, might boost it in the midtones, maybe try increasing clarity a little?  Reminds me of some time I spent in the Sierra in Sept 2011. Never made it up this creek though, looks inviting.

Pretty and soothing scene. The processing looks good to my eye. No suggestions here. Nice take from Bishop Creek.

Jim,

Wonderful Eastern Sierra autumn scene.  I think the colors are rich already and don't need any tweaking.  I really like the semi-pano framing you've presented, allowing the stream to flow through.  I also like the balance between the rock/trees on the left and the strong presence of the lodgepole on the right.  I kinda wish there was a bit more room to the right of the tree, but that's hardly worth mentioning.

Well done.  This is a wonderful autumn scene.

I really like this image. As Lon brought up the pano aspect really favors this composition with layers of wide arcs from lrc. The colors and contrast look good to my eye. The tree is beautifully rendered yet it doesn't dominate due to it's placement. The image is colorful yet fairly natural, not overly processed. Nobody has mentioned that small tuft of grasses at bottom center left so I guess it doesn't bother anyone. Personally I think the image would be better off without it.

Hi Jim!  Very nice image.  I like the ballance in your comp.  The light and detail are excellent.  For me the yellows and greens could use a minor punch but looks great as is.  I agree with Igor about the small tuft of grass on the bottom, though it isn't a significant nit.

Hi Jim,
Yes, this is the same spot I took mine from, on the other side of the creek! And our two photos look so different from each other. I like this very much, and you were lucky that in fall 2011 the colors were much better than this year. I love the way the creek bends around here and how the lodgepole anchors it. I didn't notice the clump of grass at first, but after I read the comments I can't stop seeing it. Great place and wonderful job capturing it.

I like this scene. The bend of the stream is interesting, and I like all the variety of color on the far shore. I personally don't mind those grasses since they are fairly close to the main land area on the right. I might, however, darken or clone that white spot in the  LLC. Very beautiful fall photograph!
