It turned really cold, these last few days, with the first major snowfall on the Jura mountain range. This Grey Heron was something of a high flier!
Thanks for viewing
Your crits and nits are most welcome

Very unusual shot, David! Can't recall having seen a grey heron with such a unique background of snow clad mountains! Really cool!

For me at least this is a unique shot, and certainly not where you would expect to see a Grey Heron.
Great capturedevil

Very cool to catch this Grey against this backdrop David. I like the flight pose, and you managed the exposure nicely.

Nice depth and balance to this David. Sorry to keep repeating, but I love how unique this is.

I'm going to add a few points for the perspective.  Nice wing position, light, and detail.

A lovely flight shot of this heron, David.  I'm amazed you got the distant mountains in such great focus even at f/10.  The bird is nice and sharp as well.  I've been looking at this image and particularly the foreground cloud at the bottom, and for my taste, I think it would work even better if you cropped from the bottom to just about the top of the cloud line below the bird, leaving the right hand patch of clouds and the far left bump protruding just slightly into the bottom of the frame.  I'm not sure why it makes a difference to my eyes, but it does.

A sweet flight capture of this heron in a seemingly unusual habitat.

Great light, excellent details and a pleasing composition.

A Beauty David!
