Golden Crowned Sparrow

I generally don't center my images like this but with the head-on shot it made more sense.  This was taken in a downpour this morning.  We have already had 12 inches of rain in November (not including today) with eight being normal.  And even with an extremely dry summer this year, we are still 12 inches ahead of normal for the year to date.

I don't know what's with the lack of comments on this one, David.  I love it.  An absolutely perfect North West fall/winter image.  Golden-crowned Sparrows never do look happy to me, but this angle makes it look positively disgruntled.  Your shutter speed did an excellent job of emphasizing the rain and is complemented by the drops on the bird.  Very well done.

I wholeheartedly agree with Dennis' comments. I also think centering the sparrow is the only way to go with this. He looks a bit grumpy; probably due to the incessant rain and that guy interrupting his day with his camera.

I agree with Dennis, I love this! I love the mood, the rain drops and the grumpy looking sparrow.

Gotta love the square on pose, David, and the centered crop works well with this. Looks to be tired of all that rain.

Boy, he looks as grumpy as I've been feeling these past few days.

Great job turning our miserable weather into an awesome photograph David sad

I do not know this bird, have never seen one, but I agree it sure looks grumpy!  Great photo, the square format, the rain, excellent color and details.  Thanks for sharing.

The rain adds a ton to this shot David, head on poses typically work well centered like this.   Beautifully done. devil

I love this as composed and presented. A great expression on the sparrow. The falling raindrops add a lot to the image and "fill out" the areas around the sparrow.

David, yes I think this is a great image of the Golden Crowned Sparrow in the rain. A very nice find.
