Common Gallinule & RP

Another ancient image from way back in March.  I liked the nice diagonal line the bird's body made in this one and the decent head turn it gave me.  To me, the reed crossing the neck isn't a problem, though I suspect it will be to some.  If you look closely you'll see a narrow green stem crossing the left foot.  In the original, it projected out of the back nearly to the top of the frame, and I did find it distracting so I removed it in processing.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 361 mm, hand held, f/7.1, 1/250, iso 1250, aperture priority, pattern metering, -1/3 EV.  Noise Reduction in DxO PhotoLab, the rest of the processing in PS & LR CC.  Cropped to a 14.9 MP 4x5 before exporting.  Taken at 8:14 am on March 25th at the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center in Port Aransas, Texas.

Your comments and critiques are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I really like the lighting and the colors in this Dennis. The reeds are really nice. Details in the gallinule are great.

A good environmental pose with superb detail and color.  I think the use of DxO optics lab on this image probably made a difference with respect to noise.  It sure looks clean.

After posting this, I realized that the composition needed a bit more punch because I wanted the right leg to flow into the body and it blended into the background too much to do that properly.  I've reprocessed it with some dodging and burning of that leg to give it a bit more pop.  I think it improves the image, but I'd like your input.

You can click on the image for a 1200 pixel version.

Thanks,
