Taiwan Serow

This was an exciting find when we were in Taiwan.  Serows are a genus of ungulates which are endemic to Asia, the Taiwan Serow being endemic to Taiwan.  Closely related to other goat like animals, the gorals.  It was the first time I had seen any species of Serow.   We spotted it at nighttime from a distance and it approached us in the dark, making it possible for me to take this portrait.

Canon 1DX II, Sigma 150-600 at 546mm 1/250 F9, iso 800, manual exposure, flash at 0 compensation, handheld

Never heard of it before Nate, but this is a great look in the middle of the night. Thank you for posting and educating.

Great find!  I have only seen one in a zoo sometime ago.  Glad you were able to see and get a good photo of this one.  A group of animals not well known.  TFS
