Baby Come Back

Spent a few days mid-September camping in Rocky Mountain National Park and watching the dynamics that were in play as the bull elks struggled to maintain control over their cows.  This particular bull was especially distraught as one of "his" female cows jumped ship and ran across the meadow to join another younger bull elk's harem.  He followed her, bugling along the way, but wasn't successful in luring her back.

Excellent image - plus apt title!
Sharp, fine detail, perfect placement in the frame and soft colours.Sandy

Such a gorgeous and "clean" setting.  Nice work, Paula.

Paula, this is very nice! The grasses create a nice surrounding for the elk, and I love the glow up top. This works well in semi-pano format.

There are a couple white seeds or something near the edge just over halfway up the right side that I might clone out, but very minor.

Perfectly placed in the frame, great classic bugle pose and sweet, warm light.  That should keep you smiling!

I like how you captured the bull against the yellow background. I would have cropped the photo just a tad tighter to make the bugling bull stand out more

Nice capture of this elk, Paula!  The unbroken meadow really puts the focus on the elk and the bugling behavior is obvious.  Nice detail and colors also; especially in the large version.  I like your story also as it provides the context and adds emotional involvement!
