Another shot from my Bosque workshop with Keith Bauer.  Taken a few minutes after sunrise.

Canon 7D Mark II
Sigma 150-600 mm at 200 mm
1/500; f6.3
ISO 160

Thanks for looking.  Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Just enough separation of the cranes and some wonderful first of the day light makes this an awesome image for me. The reds are interesting and is not what you normally see posted of the world renowned Bosque warmth. devil

Love these kind of shots. Well done on the silhouette while maintaining a good look at the mountains in the background.

Beautifully composed silhouette image. Your exposure strikes the perfect balance between the silhouetted birds and the mountains in early morning light.  Well done.

This is an interesting take on this trio, Allen. You have the pleasing backdrop and the silhouettes work well with their coordinated flight formation. Looks to me like you were working at the limit with ISO 160, 1/500 and f6.3 , seems like a stretch. For this I think you could boost the brightness of the BG a little while leaving the birds in nice silhouette as they are. A panoramic would also work great for this.

Allen, I like the composition here, and the red and blue color palette, but this looks very underexposed to me. Great capture of all 3 birds in varying positions.

Lovely, Allen  I like the three wing positions and the sunrise on the background hills.  If this were mine, I'd be tempted to try brightening the sky a touch.

Very nice perspective.  I like the pinkish mountains at the bottom.  I'm curious what it would look like with a bit off the top and a bit brighter sky.

I was curious enough I decided to do a quick edit.  Obviously I changed the sky color to a much bluer / magenta / pink tone.  Just curious what it might look like.  See what you think

Thanks for the comments.   I like the suggestions to have a more panoramic crop and lighten the sky.

Keith: I must have been re-working mine and re-posting just behind you.  The crop looks the same and I must say, I do like the color of your sky.

I feel the early mourning light adds a surreal feeling to this image.

Beautiful image Allen.  Love those silhouettes and the beautiful morning light on the hills.  My only comment would be that if there is more foreground, it might be well to include it, along with a little less sky on top.

Excellent DOF and so great to see the wide landscape. The Cranes as silhouettes work very well here. Love it ! Cheers, hans

I like the cropped versions. I knew a more panoramic version would work. I like Keith's color balance, just maybe with a bit less blue.

Well, my vote goes with Allen's color balance on the repost.  The panoramic view does make a difference.  Terrific color.  Someday I will make the trip down to New Mexico.
