Red-tailed Hawk II

This is two frames after my last post.  The background hasn't had any additional blurring done to it in this case, because the hawk has come forward enough to start to put the background out of focus on it's own.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, beanbag on car window, f/8, 1/2000, iso 800, manual exposure.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped to 13.9 MP.  Taken at 8:43 am on December 14th at Bosque del Apache.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Gorgeous wings and tail.  The hawk stands out really well from the background as it is in this image.

Dennis, the detail in this image is excellent - especially in the wings and tail (and love those splayed out tail feathers), but good overall.  I really love this view of the hawk due to the low angle and good look at the bird's top side.  Although there is fair separation between the bird and its background, I feel it would again be more effective with some gaussian blur applied.

A very nice flight pose Dennis. I do think the bird gets muted against an almost monochromatic background and I would try and isolate the background further  with a guassian blur, or perhaps a surface blur layer.

Very nice flight shot Dennis, I particularly like the splayed tail, I agree on blurring the background a bit. devil
