Gannet Colony

This is a photo of the Gannet colony on the bird sanctuary of Bass Rock Island near Berwick, Scotland. It was taken from a really bouncy zodiac, whose driver seemed most intent on getting back to shore. The settings were for the nesting birds, but a bit of luck had some slow fliers come into view. Olympus E-M1 and 40-150 lens at 1/800, f/5.0 and ISO 100. Richard

A cool colony image, Richard.  The two fliers and the pair of birds that are raised up on the top of the rock help pull the eye into the image.

Excellent handling of the darks and lights, especially the guano.

Very nice colony image.  1/800 from a moving bouncing boat.  Well done.

Great colony photo.  To me the higher flying bird pulls my eye away, while the lower flying birds draws my eye into the group.  Just my 2 Cents.
