Sierra Summer Surprise!

A fun weekend with friends over Labor Day. Dodging rain and hail while trying to get some tri tips cooked, I managed to be able to respond to this seen when it materialized in front of us. Large view is much better!

The larger version really pops, especially the FG rocks. Gorgeous lighting.  Not bad for a grab shot.  Looks like an ideal setting for a cookout. Like it as is.

Stranger!  Great to see a post from you Chris!

What a glorious moment in time you've captured.  Thanks for sharing this moment.  I've got no nits or suggestions.  Kudos for being to step away from the tri-tip for a few moments!

Lon

Edit:  Ok, clone out the cabin rooftop along the left hand shore.  Otherwise, I think all the compositional elements fit together beautifully.

Chris, this is a beautiful shot with gorgeous light. As landscape photographers we always hope for dramatic weather conditions, and  you really made the most of these conditions, so congratulations. What I really love about this shot is the multiple dramatic spotlighting effects that you have going on, and your processing of the light in this scene is spot on. I agree with Lon, clone away the cabin on the left shoreline, it creates a hotspot.

Beautiful... Great light and nice scene.
I might take a bit off the top down to just above the rainbow.

Chris, great job catching some fine storm light and a fine double rainbow.  In the larger view, the details in the lrc rocks balance the rainbows very nicely.

Excellent craftsmanship in this image. I've watched many evenings in the Sierras that look like this. Most everyone I know stops what they're doing and just watch the last sunlight cross the landscape. I really like the bluish rocks in the lrc. The only nit from me is that the orange sunlight on the tree on the right seems to get more saturated as you go up. Don't know if that's part of processing or it was like that right out of the camera. It's barely noticeable. Great image.
