Trying to get back into my Alaska images. I believe this was in the Polychrome Pass area. I was attracted to the transition from colorful tundra to harsh mountains to the fading misty BG. All comments welcome. Please view LARGE. >=))>

Bill,

I have but one nit/wish - and I'll come to that in a sec.  I must say this is such a grand and powerful landscape from Alaska!  You've posted some fine and wonderful images from your trip to Denali and I think this one tops them all.  Your title is quite excellent as I can see and appreciate those transitions in this environmental portrait. There are three distinct zones working together here, including the life of the tundra and the greenery, to the stark and harshness of the mountain landscape, finishing off with the misty atmosphere at the top.

The wish?  I wish there was just a bit more included both top and bottom.  As a grand landscape as this is, I'm just wishing for little more top and bottom.  Minor, but thought I would mention.

Love this one Bill,

Lon

Beautiful grand view! Great subdued colors and depth to the scene. I would not mind a little extra room at the top. I am fine with the bottom.

Bill, beautiful image that tells a nice story about Denali. The subtle colors here are great. what attracts me to this image are all the great crisscrossing diagonal line in the bottom half of the image. I would recommend cropping this to a more panoramic format that includes none of the sky. This would leave with an image that places more emphasis on those diagonal lines, and the warm/cool  contrast of the colors in the bottom half. The image would them become more of an abstract scene, but those design elements are so strong in this scene i would want to maximize their impact.

Spectacular scenery and a great image, Bill. Most impressive. I like the way the three mountaintops recede into the clouds/fog.  I see you got a suggestion for more sky, and one for no sky, so I think you just about nailed it.  Normally, I would like to see more room, but with the white sky, I think less is better, but I also think we need to see the mountaintops.

This is pretty outstanding, Bill...
Superb view and really nice processing (it has a nice 3D quality).
I think it has a bit of a magenta caste to it.

Bill, there is a wonderful sense of rhythm and flow in your image for me. I also appreciate your treatment of colors a lot. This must be impressive as a large print!

I would define this image as a grand but at the same time intimate scene, Bill. I like a lot the composition and how the mountain slowly fades away. The colors are also great. I would consider the idea of slightly reducing the amount of the unsharp mask you applied especially on the mountains.

Bill, the color in the tundra is quite striking against the rugged mountains.  Having the distant peaks fade into the mist is a fine extra.  In the larger view, the details in the closer ridges are amazing.

This is a flat out gorgeous image, Bill. I love all the diagonals and colors in this landscape along with the way the mountains transition into the clouds. I remember Polychrome Pass from a visit to Denali many years ago and I have to say that this makes me want to go back.
