Flight of Fancy - WC

Flying from Lake Clark National Park in a bush plane that followed the shoreline back to Anchorage, Alaska,  I tried to capture some of the patterns made by the river outflows as we passed over.  The thick window glass was a big hindrance as was the intermittent glare from the sun, but it was an interesting diversion to an otherwise generic flight.

I like the soft colors and the flow of the water.  Without some thing to give it scale, would never have guessed this is a large scene!  Thanks for sharing.

Paula, my though on seeing the thumb was a sand scape.  This is a similar view from a very different perspective.  I like the transition from waves at the top to land at the bottom with the braided waterway "falling" across the land.  All of the subtle blues that show in the larger view add to a good looking (and different) scene.  (Maybe you should have asked the pilot to open the door and let you hang out...enlightened )

Very interesting patterns among the various shades of blue.

I think that if you can't identify the subject of a photo, or misidentify it, even momentarily, it's abstract.  From the thumbnail, I thought this was a close-up of a natural ice formation.  It takes close examination to discover what this really is; and when I did that, I appreciated the patterns and textures even more.  Nice capture and presentation.

Flying over Alaska is a generic flight?  River channels make some really cool abstracts, especially ones that haven't been meddled with.
