On a doors off flight out to Denali the opportunities for graphic abstracts were almost limitless. This is one of my favorites. Please see LARGE. >=))>

Bill, I was wondering about abstracts as I looked at your Landscape posts from AK. This is a great example with all of it's broad zig-zags of nice warm browns mingled well with some lighter and darker areas. The soft light really lets the subtle colors stand out well.

I think that many grand landscapes contain bold abstracts hidden among the details, and you certainly have a talent for finding them. Even though those "details" may cover quite large expanses, I often overlook them while composing scenes of huge expanses. The boldness of the stripes and shapes, complemented by the subtlety of the colors filling the frame make a very pleasing study of the patterns that Nature fills the world with.
P.S. By the way, for those who might criticize the construction of that last sentence above. I am one of a growing number of writers who believe that the "rule" which for some time prohibited ending sentences with preposition has no place in the English language. It is in fact a misplaced remnant from ancient Latin, which has sentence structures that would be awkward and out-of-place if forced upon the English language. Forcing that rule from an ancient foreign language upon our grammar was a mistake made in fairly recent in history by a few scholars who unfortunately made our written language more complicated than our spoken language. Throwing out that misplaced "rule" is long overdue.

Beautiful, Bill. The angle of the light and relative lack of shadows really makes this an interesting abstract.

Nice eye candy, Bill. I like the layers and color in the upper part of it. To me that bright spot at bottom right hand kinda grabs my eye, maybe cropping up a bit is an option? Just a thought.
