This is the top of a lupine in bloom western Maine late June. I chose to do a close-up of the top only to give a good look at the delicate petals.

ISO 800
F 6/3
shutter speed 800

Nice bloom, Norma. I like the beautiful colors in the petals. I might be tempted to crop this to square.

Norma: Interesting comp of one of my favorite flowers. I can see the square crop suggestion but this works for me as is. Really nice specimen superbly captured and rendered.>=))>

What I love more is the color contrast with the BG. Have you tried a vertical frame?

Hi Norma,

Tighten the crop for a square format and that is my only suggestion.  Otherwise, the exposure and BG are very nice with subject showing up well in the frame......................Jim

I can see an even tighter crop from horizontal to vertical, not so much as changing the presentation of the lupine as changing the influence of the background. The LHS of the BG has a less than attractive black space. The Lupine is quite pretty, but needs a little more presence, which a judicious crop might give it.

The repost is significantly better! The lupine really jumps out at one.cool leaving out the black border also helped.

Norma: Nice work on the repost. I do think it's an improvement but I still like the original. Well done.>=))>
